New bishop for Uromi Diocese Nigeria

Vatican City - On 6 November 2014 the Holy Father appointed Rev. Father Donatus Aihmiosion Ogun, O.S.A., Master of students of Philosophy and Director of the St . Augustine's Institute in Makurdi, as Bishop of the Diocese of Uromi .

The Bishop-elect was born on October 12, 1966, in Sapele, Delta State, Warri Diocese. After attending primary and secondary schools in Benin City, he worked for a short period. In 1986 he started the Postulancy in the Convent of the Augustinian Fathers of Jos, then entered the Novitiate in 1988. He completed his studies in philosophy and Theology at St. Augustine Major Seminary in Jos. He was ordained a priest on July 31, 1993. After his ordination he has served in a number of pastoral and academic roles: 1993-1996: Treasurer of the Community of Our Lady of Good Council in Iwako Oka, assistant Novice Master, Assistant parish priest and school Chaplain; 1996-2001: Studies for a Doctorate in canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University; 2001-2002: Prior and Treasurer of the Community of Our Lady of Lourdes in Coker Village, Lagos; 2002-2005: Master of professed students of Theology and Treasurer in the Augustinian convent of Jos; 2005-2008: Prior and Treasurer of the Community of Our Lady of Good Council in Iwaro Oka and university Chaplain; 2008-2012: Treasurer at St. Cyprian in Warri and Episcopal Vicar for the Religious of the Diocese of Warri; since 2012: Master of students of the philosophy Community of education in Makurdi and professor at the St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary, in the same city; since 2013: Director of the new Institute of his Order, St. Augustine Institute in Makurdi.
